The visitors took the lead in the first half after a fantastic piece of finishing from debutant Loic Remy, collecting Adel Taarabt’s brilliant pass before firing home, before Joe Cole equalised with a simple tap-in for his first West Ham goal in a decade to level the game.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce made seven changes to the side that lost 1-0 away at Old Trafford to Manchester United in their FA Cup third round replay in midweek, with on-loan Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh handed his first start for the club, and James Collins missing out with a calf injury. Mbia claims QPR have sealed Remy deal

The French striker had been strongly linked with a move to Newcastle from Marseille, but Harry Redknapp’s side now appear to have succeeded in a late bid for his services.

Mbia wrote on his official Twitter account: “IT’S OFFICIAL WELCOME REMY !!! #QPR.”

Rs midfielder Joey Barton, who is currently on loan at Marseille, had revealed the news through the social networking site on Monday evening – backtracking on his original assertion that the 26-year-old was heading to St James’ Park.

Remy has scored just twice in 12 appearances so far this term, but was decidedly more prolific last season, netting 20 goals in total.

QPR take on West Brom in an FA Cup third round replay at the Hawthorns on Tuesday evening.
